This report is a culmination of studies in the Architectural Engineering field, with a focus on the redesign of the lighting in four spaces of the Bioengineering Building. Those designs focus on the relationship of the various systems and spaces within a building with an emphasis on the concept of the body. The designs of the Exterior Plaza, Lobby, Flex Classroom, and Flex Lab are suplemented by daylighting, mechanical, structural, and electrical studies related to the spaces. Daylighting studies in the Flex Lab analyze the influence of sunlight in the space and used to design a louver system in the space. A mechanical study shows the effect of the louver design on the Flex Lab, while the structural study determines whether the building's structure can support the new louvers. Lastly, the electrical study tests the imtegration of a PV panel array on the roof of the Bioengineering Building. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the design process in the Architectural Engineering field and not to judge the original work of the design team.
